Until the Violence Stops: NYC
Safe Horizon is proud to participate in Until the Violence Stops: NYC, a two-week festival of theater, art and community-building that puts women, their empowerment and safety directly on center stage.

Presented by V-Day, the global movement to end violence against women and girls founded by playwright Eve Ensler, Until the Violence Stops: NYC will issue a call to action to all New Yorkers and to the world: Demand an end to violence against women and girls and become an active participant in ending it.
The festival features four marquee events, including a special, once-in-a-lifetime reading of Eve Ensler's play about women and war—Necessary Targets. All four events will delve into issues of violence and abuse in creative, powerful ways, and Safe Horizon counselors will be present at each to speak with audience members after the performances and provide referrals to ongoing services.
Safe Horizon will also host two community events that are free and open to the public:
- WE FLO Wednesday, June 14, 7:30-10:30pm
Join us at Staten Island’s Muddy Cup for an evening of performances by women who create against rape, using poetry, spoken word, music and other art forms to raise awareness. Tanya T, a Rape Survivor Advocate for Safe Horizon, will be the event’s “Poetik MC.” Click here to view the event flyer.
- Men and Women: Working Together to End Domestic Violence Monday, June 26, 6-9pm
In partnership with A Call to Men, Safe Horizon presents an evening with Tony Porter, educator and activist and national lecturer on men’s role in ending violence against women. The event includes lecture, workshops and reception. Click here to view the event flyer.
